Eclipse MicroPen® Microneedling

As far as skin rejuvenation treatments go, Vivace RF microneedling is considered one of the most effective in reducing the results of aging and acne. The procedure is used to promote the production of collagen while stimulating cell turnover to repair damaged skin. By creating microscopic punctures in the surface layer of the skin, microneedling revives skin cells to create a radiant, glowing, look without the use of heavy makeup or concealer. What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a dermatology treatment that uses a special device composed of several fine needles which are used to create tiny holes in the upper layer of skin. The purpose is to break up the fibrous and uneven scar tissue that has developed and stimulate the growth of new tissue. This treatment may be used in combination with other laser or chemical peel treatments for greater effects.

It is an FDA-approved dermatology treatment that is considered to be minimally invasive and mostly painless. While the procedure is uncomfortable for many patients, a topical numbing cream is applied to the skin to limit the pain you might feel during the process. Schedule a consultation to see if this treatment is appropriate for you.

Pre-Treatment

Prior to your appointment, there are a few things you should keep in mind to help prepare yourself for the procedure. First, be sure to discontinue the use of any harsh topical treatments, especially those containing retinol, as they can severely aggravate the skin and interfere with your results. Also, try to avoid direct sun exposure for a few days before your appointment. Sunburn can also aggravate the skin and affect your results. When you arrive for your appointment, please come in with clean skin and no makeup.

Post-Treatment

After the procedure, there are a few things you should avoid to get the best results. First, try avoiding all retinoids for 24 hours after the treatment. Next, it is best to stay out of the sun for at least 24 hours after the procedure as exposure can easily cause damage to the skin. When you are ready to go back outside, be sure to wear a sun protectant on the skin to prevent further damage from occurring. Topical products such as moisturizers and cleansers will absorb more deeply into the skin after your treatment, so you may find yourself using less of these products. Your procedure will provide some immediate results but for best results, the procedure should be repeated every couple of months.
